Codename wa Sailor V: Manga Covers

Codename wa Sailor V is the prequel to Sailor Moon and features the early adventures of Minako Aino as “Sailor V”, with her magical talking cat Artemis. The story appeared as a one-shot special in the summer 1991 debut issue of the Nakayoshi spin-off magazine Run-Run. The story was popular enough that Naoko Takeuchi began working on a new series featuring a team of sailor soldiers: Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. The adventures of Minako as the magical heroine “Sailor V” and her battles against the Dark Agency continued to be published intermittently in Run-Run from summer 1991 to November 1997, for a total of 3 volumes and 15 chapters. The story concludes just prior to Sailor V joining the Sailor Senshi Team.
