The Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon manga was collected into 18 tankoubon (individual volumes) from 1992-1997 following monthly publication in the girls’ manga magazine Nakayoshi. A tankoubon reprints multiple installments from a manga series on high quality paper in paperback-sized books. Pages that appeared in color in the original magazine serialization are reprinted in greyscale (these pages were reprinted in color in the shinsōban or new edition manga volumes).
These volumes collect the 52 main story chapters, the bonus stories and two specials. Liner notes called “free talks” were written by Naoko Takeuchi for each volume.
Kaguya-hime no Koibito (“Lover of Princess Kaguya”) is a side story that was adapted as the Sailor Moon S movie. It was published in a standalone tankoubon with a larger page size than the standard volumes, and then republished as Sailor Moon Vol. 11 together with the Rei-focused short story with Casablanca Memory.
